ARWEN

Genre: Progressive Power/Heavy Metal Country: Spain

Arwen was founded by Jose A. Garrido (Guitars) and Luiz M. Hernández (Bass) in 1996. Nacho Ruiz (Male Vocals) and Mamen Carmen Castaño (Female Vocals) joined in 1998. And by the end of 1999 Nacho Arriaga (Drums), Rosalva Alonso (Keyboards) & Alberto Avilés (Guitars) had completed the line-up, almost. Arwen hired one more keyboardist, Jonathan Zapatero and was now an eight-man strong band. They signed with Arise Records in 2001 and released their debut album, “Memories of a Dream” in 2002. They then recorded a song for the second part of the Helloween tribute that Arise released. Arwen then lost their first member, the male keyboarder Jonathan left and was replaced by Javi Díez. Meanwhile, Jose joined the largest of all Spanish Power Metal bands, Dark Moor. He didn’t stay for long, after less than a year he left and is now only a member of Arwen. They started to record their second album in the summer of 2004, and it’s now going to be released in November, once again through Arise Records.
