Artefact is a band from the Netherlands formed by producer & composer Maxim Schram. The line-up includes vocalist and songwriter Shamangi, double-bass player Thijs Willemsen and drummer Paul van Gerven. On stage and in the studio Artefact works with various guest musicians including trompet player Ryan Carniaux, rapper Nemesiz, Spanish and electric guitar player Erik Verhoef and Scratch DJ Broky B (WaxWankerz & Ish).
Artefact brings a fresh blend of jazz, funk, pop and dance. Vocalist Shamangi adds an enchanting vibe to the music, with a voice sweet & vulnerable but also full of power and confidence.
In July 2003 Artefact released the cd One of a Kind, a mini-album containing 6 sparkling popsongs with a triphop vibe. Right now the band is working on there debut album scheduled for release in the summer of 2004.
In 2002 Artefact won Holland’s greatest pop prize in Paradiso (Amsterdam) called De Grote Prijs van Nederland (“The Grand Prize of the Netherlands”). In December 2003 they toured with the British Lamb.
