Formed in Madrid in 1995, ANKHARA are a Spanish Power Progressive Metal band who quickly became popular within their hometown. Gaining fans, experience and becoming tighter, they started playing with bands like MEDINA AZAHARA and MURO.
ANKHARA started their first tour throughout Spain with the 'DURO CON EL 98' festival. This returned them to Madrid where they played at the Sala Canciller venue, sharing the stage with KNELL ODISSEY, MURO, AVALANCH, SARATOGA and OBUS. ANKHARA gave such a powerful performance that both fans and the media considered it as one of their best.
Following this gig, they toured throughout Spain again, this time with SAXON. This tour solidified the band's growing fan base throughout Spain's metal scene.
ANKHARA followed up their successful tour by winning a contest organized by the Council of Pinto (located near Madrid), which gave them the opportunity to start recording their first album. Their debut album ´Dueño del Tiempo´ was released in 1999.
ANKHARA has recently released their second album in February, 2001, 'ANKHARA II'. You'll find nice melodies, fine grooves, and excellent vocals. The songs are well-arranged, guitar oriented, and have the perfect level of technique and melodies. This album contains some cool solos, excellent work on the keyboards and powerful guitar work.
