Angus & Julia Stone

Living together in Newport on the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia, brother and sister Angus and Julia Stone are making waves with their music.

Music with grace - music that says a lot without trying to.

The band consists of Angus & Julia Stone on alternate lead vocals and guitar and Mitchell Connelly (ex The Beautiful Girls) who provides the backbone of the band with drums and percussion. Mitch is also an incredible photographer and the official photographer for the band.

With rapidly growing popularity, playing venues all over Australia including supports for artists The Beautiful Girls, Sophie Koh, Alex Lloyd and Shane Nicholson plus playing Festivals such as The Great Escape, Splendour In The Grass and Homebake 2006, the pair are an exciting act to look out for. They are also extremely happy to announce their newly inked deal with EMI Australia who will be releasing their EP 'Chocolates & Cigarettes' on 28 August, 2006.

Their music is a pure sound that captures the freedom, fear and beauty of life in a musically clear and simple way. The iconic Record store 'Rough Trade' in London has made comparisons to Damien Rice, Portishead, Corrine Bailey Rae and Paul Simon. Drum noted that Julia has the sweet angelic voice and Angus has a delicate quality to his pipes. The Sydney Morning Herald raved that Julia?s voice 'has a fractured feel like Texan folkie Jolie Holland? and Angus 'has a smoke-on-the-beach drawl?.

With honest, emotive lyrics, beautiful harmonies, melodic guitars, their debut EP 'Chocolates & Cigarettes' is not to be missed. The unspoken connection that can only come with the history of family makes 'Angus and Julia Stone? a joy to watch and a delight to listen to.

This is definitely a band to look out for ..

'They are unnaturally good' is the quote of the night. They have done more than warmed the room - they have won it over, hands down. Between songs the crowd are agape, hanging on the silence and waiting for it to be filled, to the point where you could surely hear a pin drop had there been one.
