ALTAR

From Holland, the land of windmills and weeds, comes one of the most powerful forces of unholiness ever to invade the world of mortals. Thrown together by their hatred of the christian faith and other stupid religions, the members of ALTAR have become virtual outcasts in their hometowns Hardenberg and Coevorden. Back in July 1992 after a time of bloody rehearsels, the winds of hate began to blow; ALTAR recorded their legendary debut demo "And God created Satan to blame for his mistake". The tape earned a worldwide respect in the underground death scene. The flawless recording quality of it captures with clarity the raging intensity of this monster band. In three years after the release of the tape it sold over 1500 times. ALTAR proved through many concert performances which were a direct result of the unbridled intensity with which they approach their music and beliefs. Several record companies were interested in the music of ALTAR, but most of them came to close in the wrong way. But finally the dutch Displeased records had the guts to sign ALTAR and join them with their "Youth against Christ" !

The album "Youth against Christ" was released in 1994 and got tremendous reviews in the international press. Which lead to the sales of over 10.000 CD's. After negotiating with Massacre Germany, Displeased records decided to license the album to them for Germany. ALTAR have played many festivals in the Benelux and got quite some TV coverage, which lead them to the no.1 band in the extreme music in Holland.

Their second album "Ego art" was recorded in January and February 1996 at Frankie's recording kitchen and it suprised the world. No pussy metal; brutal in your face metal, which captures pure brutality!!! ALTAR has released their third album "Provoke" from which you can expect a thrashing rage of sheer brutality coming your way!!!

In the beginning of 1999 Altar recorded the 4th album "In the name of the father", which they wanted to release as self-produced album. Since the contract was finished, it was their option. We wish them the best of luck with their future carreer.

In August 2001, after 2 albums and a mini-album for Pavement, the members of Altar decided to end the nearly 10 years existence of the band.
