Aliengates was founded in spring 2000 from David Oberthaler (1977) [vocals] and Pascal Beer (1978) [guitar]. A second guitarist was found in Filipe Gordilho [1979]. After the normal lineup-changes in the beginning, the band started the work in April 2001 with two new Aliengates-members, Mischa Demarmels (1980) [drums] and Roman Friedrich (1980) [bass]. All of the "aliens" had already made their experiences in other local metal- and rock-bands.
After some very intensive weeks of practicing, the decision was made to record a self financed EP. "Dark Days Quantum" was the result of this studio-session in October 2001. Worldwide, the reaction was very positive.
After the recording-session, many gigs followed, and made the band to a well-known value in the Swiss metal-scene. Aliengates had already the chance to play with many international acts, like "Grave", "Disinter", "The Forsaken", "Soul Demise" and others. They also played in the Z7 in Pratteln [CH] on the "Metal Days" with "Savatage", "Samael", "Children Of Bodom" and many more.
In the Fall of 2002, Pascal decided to leave Aliengates. A new guitar player, Philipp Schalcher (1972) was found.
In early 2003 the band recorded the Demo “Funeral Feast” and hit the road in the end of March together with “Bitterness” [DE] and “Thirdmoon” [A] on their “The Reaper Comes To Your Town-Tour”.
Because of discrepancy with the song-writing and other reasons, Roman, Filipe and Philipp decided to leave the band in April 2003. David and Mischa searched for new alien-death-members and founded them in Oliver Grbavac (1982) [guitar], Manfred Aigner (1983) [guitar] -both from Germany- and Reto Hardmeier (1975) [bass].
