AION

The band AION was started in January 1996 in Poznan, Poland.

In the same year, in June the guys recorded the promotional demo from which a piece "The Birth" occured on the CD compilation "Blood To Come Vol. 1" in Thrash'em all magazine.

In July 1996 AION signed a contract with Polish publisher MORBID NOIZZ PROD. The contract resulted in recording session in Hellenic Studio and in releasing a debut album entitled "Midian". The "Midian" material was promoted in the series of gigs of which worth mentioning is, first of all, a performance with such stars as MERCYFUL FATE and KING DIAMOND in Poznan Arena. AION also played a series of concerts "From Dark To Gothic..." with ARTROSIS and SACRIVERSUM gathering halls full of audience in multiple cities of Poland. What is more, AION took part in annual Vox Mortis Festival in Riviera Remont and had a chance of playing with such bands as VADER, MOONLIGHT, UNDISH, and with one of great stars of the German scene LOVE LIKE BLOOD. Promotional endeavors of the publisher and the band led to signing a contract to German publisher Massacre Records and to releasing the "Midian" album in the western Europe. In August 1997 AION, together with UNDISH supported THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, ALASTIS and SAVIOUR MACHINE during the "Twilight Of The Gods" tour which included eleven concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Within that tour AION played on the big "Wacken Open Air" festival in company of such stars as MOTORHEAD, SODOM, RAGE, THERION, SAMAEL, DIMMU BORGIR. The "Midian" album was found the debut of the 1997 by readers of the Polish METAL HAMMER magazine. The first half of 1998 was, first of all, time of work on the new material. The dress rehearsal before recording of the new album was the performance on the cult "Castle Party" festival in Bolkowo, during which three new songs were presented and AION met enthusiastic reception of the audience.

At the end of 1998 AION, once again, enter the Hellenic studio in Poznan where they record material for their second album entitled "NOIA". Poznan chamber choir FERMATA, as a guest, took part in the session. The premiere took place at the beginning of November.

Nine songs occuring on "NOIA" met great reception of media, what finds its reflection in very positive press reviews. There are some opinions claming that "NOIA" is one of the main candidates for album of the year 1998 title.

"NOIA" was nominated for FRYDERYK'98 award in HARD'N'HEAVY album of the year category.
