Aerial

The name inspired by Michael Hedge's famous album, "Aerial Boundaries", Guitarist, Kell Curtis, felt this name suited the band better than any."

When you think Aerial, it's easy to get lost somewhere in the above - where I spend most of my time", laughs lyricist and vocalist, Julie Lange, who began her career as an opera singer at Texas Christian University and went on to score several independent films. A homegrown southern beauty, she inspires the heart with a viewpoint that is different, but it speaks directly to one's soul. She fronted several bands throughout high school with bassist Brian Aitken running into several chances at success. Aitken and Lange met in 2nd grade. It was a rocky road, until high school, when they realized they had so much in common and that hair pulling and kicking would simply be a comical thing of the past. Years later, Aitken made his way to Los Angeles, following an offer he received from a leading recording studio to be a sound engineer. The move did not stop the music or his ability to perform live with the band, as he collaborates in the songwriting process via the Internet and commutes to live performances.

Curtis and Lange met while working for the CBS owned and operated television station in Dallas/Fort Worth. Curtis had played in numerous local bands throughout his college and post-college career, ranging from the hard-edged and humorous to pop and alternative. As a radio-television-film major at the University of North Texas, he performed with a group that drew influences from Duran Duran and Depeche Mode. This would later develop into a common ingredient with Lange and it became magical music from the very beginning.

Drummer, Breck Shilser, heard the songs by accident at a friend's house amidst working on another music project with Curtis. After praising the new sound, Curtis asked Shisler if he might be interested in writing drum sequences for the album. A musical connection was made immediately as Shisler helped take the songs to a higher level.

Producer and Keyboardist, Rick Campbell, was then hired to produce this first release because of his expertise and perfect ear. Upon completing the production, it was a natural fit for Campbell to also be a part of the live show. The unique combination of brilliant sounds, both live and recorded, naturally compelled each musician to advance what was once considered a " project", into a band. "

We were all doing separate things - in separate projects, and we realized after a sold out, standing room only show, that there was something magical about this music - and being together in a band is what it would take to continue this feeling."

All professional musicians, the group collaborated to create the truly unique and expressive sound of Aerial. With melodies that tug at the heart, the music speaks for itself. With a stellar reaction to the E.P., Aerial has begun the journey of reaching out to the world to share their vision. It's spreading fast....
