An influential underground MC from Los Angeles, Aceyalone started with the Freestyle Fellowship, a hip-hop collective that also featured Mikah 9, Self Jupiter and Mtulazaji P.E.A.C.E. Together they released To Whom It May Concern in 1991, and later released 1993's Inner City Griots -- a bombass mix of spoken wordedged hip-hop which was also quite jazzy.
Acey later began collaborating with underground West-Coast entities, including Abstract Rude, with whom he produced the Project Blowed compilation in 1994. Aceyalone also formed a group with Abstract Tribe Unique and Mikah 9 called Haiku De Tat, which released the independent hit, "Los Dangerous."
In 1995, Aceyalone began a solo career. All Balls Don't Bounce was released in 1995 and was later followed by Book of Human Language in 1998.
