The Unquiet Dead - Cracked Canoe lyrics
rate meThe Unquiet Dead - Cracked Canoe
There were those who chose not to follow the guidelines set out by louder voices, who chose freedom over oppression, who chose love over want, and who chose peace over rage. But violence beget violence and the Great Suppression fought to keep the powerless powerless.
Those who were deemed weak were in reality the greatest threats and those with the power saw fit to silence these voices by inciting the masses into believing their own paranoias and self-doubts. In order for the strong to survive, the blights must be burned off, the madness removed and the song quelled.
Somewhere in the dark woods, bodies lay in swamps carrying secrets and desires unfulfilled. Castaways, slaves, witches, and outcasts, dumped in the murky underbelly of the forests, left to fade from history.
But every soul has a tale to tell.
Every heart, no matter how black, has a song to sing.
These are their stories...
the unquiet dead.
