The Professional Americans

The Professional Americans - Guitars And Gasoline lyrics

rate me

Meaning: One of the most vivid moments in my life is just driving with my friend David after being in the city of Springfield. We were in high school and had been in town hanging out after school. It was dusk on a warm spring night and we were listening to Smashing Pumpkins "Adore" album. I just remember having this feeling that hurt inside. Not hurt in a bad way, but what C.S. Lewis called "longing." It's more of a type of joy. It hurts, but if you've felt it you wouldn't trade it for anything. This whole feeling led me to think about what I live for. Why do we do the things that we do? I just wanted to stay in that moment forever. Just driving with my friend, enjoying life. Lyrics: I've been running my whole life From the idea that we all live to die Have I had it wrong Living like the weak for the strong I just wanna drive Get away, feel alive I don't wanna face my problems anymore I've been posing my whole lifeI've been posing my whole life For the critics, for the cynics, for the wise Have I had it wrong Living like the weak for the strong I just want to drive Get away, Feel alive I don't want to face my problems anymore Take this gasoline and burn the whole scene When it comes around don't you scream I just want to cut clean From the man who doesn't breathe I just want to drive Get away, Feel alive I don't want to face mine anymore I just want to drive Get away, Feel alive I don't want to face my problems anymore Anymore...
