Taylor Swift's RED album sells 1.21 million copies in first week
Billboard revealed today that the country girl, Taylor Swift's new album "RED" sold 1.21 million copies in the US in first week. This means a lot for Taylor's career, because she has sold more than any other album in a decade, since Eminem's last album "The Eminem Show," which sold 1.322 million in its first full week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The record "RED" also makes Swift the only woman who has reached to sell 1 million records with her second consecutive album in its debut week. Only Britney Spears reached to sell 1.319 million copies of Oops! … I Did It Again in 2000.
Taylor was overwhelmed when she heard the news. "They just told me Red sold 1.2 million albums first week," the singer tweeted. "How is this real life?! You are UNREAL. I love you so much. Thanks a million ;)," she added.
"RED" will debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, Swift's third No. 1.
Swift will begin touring in North America for the album on March 2013.
