Suicidal Winds

The bandname SUICIDAL WINDS came to reality in August 1992, right after the split-up of Mathias and Peter´s former band KRISTOS MORTIS, but it wasn´t before January 1994 SUICIDAL WINDS did their first rehearsal. Then as a two-piece, with Mathias on drums/vocals and Peter on guitar. Only two months later, in March, the band´s first release saw the light, a reh/demo called "The Road To...". Due to the extremely primitive and chaotic music performed, the recording was spread in rather small extent. In August 1995 a bassplayer, Andreas, was finally added to the band. Everything became more serious with his arrival, and a new reh/demo was recorded in March 1996, called "Massacre". It included six own songs and two HELLHAMMER-covers. Also this release was spread in few copies. In the summer of 1996 the band decided to get a new drummer, Martin from MINDBLASTER, so Mathias could concentrate on the vocals only. With this new line-up SUICIDAL WINDS recorded their third demo, in January 1997, called "Aggression". Including five songs, one of them a cover of SEPULTURA´s old classic "Antichrist". The demo was sent to various magazines, and the band were trying their best to get a name in the underground. Shortly after the recording Andreas began to play as a second guitarist (instead of bass), and Mathias started to take care of the bass-playing, beside the vocals. In October 1997 SUICIDAL WINDS did a new recording, which resulted in the 5-track demo "Definitely war" (released in May ´98). The demo was sent to many fanzines around the world, and received a surprisingly good response. Actually three of the songs from this demo can be found on three different compilation-CD´s, namely "Sometimes Death Is Better, part 5-9" (Shiver Records), "From the underground...." (X-treme Records), and "NO Colours Compilation vol II" (NO Colours Records). At the end of 1998 the band come in contact with the German label No Colours Records, which resulted in a record deal. So in April 1999 the debutalbum was recorded, released in August, which is called "Winds of Death". Thirteen tracks was recorded, eleven for the CD-version, and two bonus-songs for the vinyl-version. The response on the album was extremely good. In October 1999 SUICIDAL WINDS entered the Fullmoon studio again. This time it was in purpose of recording a split EP with BESTIAL MOCKERY. It was released in March 2000 in 300 copies and got sold out almost immeditely. In the spring of 2001 a new album was recorded, titled "Victims in Blood". Also this album will be released by No Colours Records, in November 2001. SUICIDAL WINDS has only done eight live-gigs until now, six in Sweden, one in Finland, and one in Germany. With bands like SACRAMENTUM, SWORDMASTER, GRIEF OF EMERALD, MASTEMA, HYPNOSIA, INHUME, EMETH, TAETRE, A MIND CONFUSED, SVARTSYN, THE DARKSEND, OBLIGATORISK TORTYR, UNPURE, HORNA, URN, SHADOW OF SUNSET etc. One of the gigs can be found on a live-tape released by French Impaler of Trendies Prod (R.I.P), limited to 200 copies.
