Sons Of The Prophet - Nation's Prayer (For Jamaica) lyrics
rate meJamaica's National Pledge:
Before God and All mankind.
I pledge the love and loyalty of my heart
The wisdom and courage of my mind,
The strength and vigour of my body
in the service of my fellow citizens.
I promise to stand up for justice,
Brotherhood and Peace, to work diligently and creatively,
To think generously and honestly, so that,
Jamaica may, under God, increase in beauty, fellowship
and prosperity, and play her part in advancing the welfare
of the whole human race.
Verse 1(Da’ Bryde):
Heavenly Father I come before you now
On behalf of a nation who’s broken vows
Who’s taken for granted the laws you’ve handed
Cuz your grace is great we try to fake the faith
And lord we groan for the broken homes
Father’s leaving kids with their broken souls
Mother’s teaching daughter’s the ropes of poles
Till proverbs 31 seems like a broken mold
For every unjust scale, hearts bloodlust filled
We try to figure out why our justice fails
When we blatantly neglect the Christ
For the ones who we elect’s advice
Lord on our knees we intercede
A Nation that is nothing till you intervene
Lord Justice, Peace, things you are of,
Lord we need you in this land we love.
Chorus:
Heavenly father are you there?
Promised to wipe my every tear
This cross too hard to bear and
This world is gripped by fear
In you I put my trust
Close my eyes walk by faith
Let you do your stuff.
All though sins every where,
Gonna give my nation a prayer.
Verse 2(Hart):
Now take a look,
You can see it there eyes,
Ain’t no gold on their streets and no platinum skies,
Lies inside they disguise to try to hide,
And despise the things inside that they trying to find,
And why we say we family, we say we brothers,
But every four years we get gunned down jus for our colours.
While others, they try to ponder,
Sit down and wonder why is it we live in a country that’s going under.
Ground…
They try to ignore it but it resounds,
The crime amplified by secular musical sounds,
I’ve found, none of us are really patient,
Even though we know righteousness exalts a nation.
Not immigration,
You jus running from your fears,
It’s like a subway but our train ain’t goin no where,
So can you hear, cause I know your there,
As I plea to you Jesus,
This is a nation’s prayer….
Chorus:
Verse 3(Lypher):
Father forgive us if we ever acted too religious
And from our way of life we constantly draw you from it
And the only time we know your name is when a storm is coming.
But from your righteous way we all keep running.
And from your principles we all keep shunning.
Help us to see that we all need you
And try to heal us from the hate that we all see through
And also let us know that we all need to
Look to you for everything, not just a few but all people
Young people stealing robbing people by extortion maybe
Teenagers having sex and then aborting babies
And I get a burden when I think about the many in the coffin lately.
And not praying but we all complaining
And I don’t like that
We Christians getting too complacent
While we losing this nation
Its time to fight back!
