Slaves to Gravity

Slaves to Gravity - Lily Liver lyrics

rate me

Yellow it's true beat me black and blue

Opened up my head

Your bold disguise was so well applied

Green eyes to see a little better

I want you know in case you haven't heard I can barely stand

I was hoping that you could lend a hand

But I can see

I'm wasting my time searching for signs of life in you

If I knew you before this

Well, I surely know you know.

I know you, now.

Skin who you can and the rest can hang

On your every word

I know you talk in strides but your hands are tied

Follow convention to the letter

Oh well, I want you to know

I need a little space, some place I can breathe, but

In the absence of evidence, I still believe, and

I can see

Yellow it's true beat me black and blue

Opened up my head

Skin who you can and the rest can hang

Hang until they're dead

If it pays? I'll get to you.

I thought that the line that reads 'I know you talk in strides' was 'No talking slides'. At first I thought it was 'No taking sides' but then I heard an 's' in sides and decided it must be 'slides' instead. To begin with I thought that 'In the absence of evidence' was 'In the absence of every chance'. However, 'In the absence of evidence' fits the song much better than the lyrics I suggested. I think that last line, 'If it pays I'll get to you' is actually 'If it pays I'll be good to you'. The two lines of 'If I knew you before this' are (I think) 'If I'd Known you before this'. Of course, there's nothing to say I'm right about any of this. I might have completely heard the wrong words.
