Sheryl Crow shares details about her diagnosis of benign brain tumour
Grammy-winning US singer Sheryl Crow has been diagnosed with brain tumor, a benign meningioma to be exact. The singer bravely won her fight against breast cancer in 2006, but she has now revealed that she has struggled with another serious health issue.
The 50-year-old "If It Makes You Happy" singer has been diagnosed with a brain tumour, though, thankfully, it's benign. "I worried about my memory so much that I went and got an MRI. And I found out I have a brain tumor," she told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "And I was, like, 'See? I knew there was something wrong'. In November, I found out I have a brain tumor," she adds. "But it's benign, so I don't have to worry about it. But it gives me a fit."
The singer recalled how she forgot part of her hit "Soak Up the Sun" on stage in Florida last month, using an expletive to tell the crowd: "I'm 50, what can I say? My brain's gone to ..." Also, she told the newspaper: "I have a history of forgetting my lyrics," relating one time in the 1990s when she forgot the intro to "A Change Would Do You Good."
"Not only could I not remember the first line, I couldn't remember the first line to any of the verses... I started laughing so hard! And I looked over at my guitar player, and he's bent over like he's going to just start peeing."
Meanwhile, Crow's reps have also made a statement to E! Online, saying: "Half of us are walking around with [meningioma] but you don't really know unless you happen to have an MRI. [Crow] has no symptoms and everything is fine. It was a random mention during the [Vegas] interview. It was not meant to alarm anyone. She is doing great and is healthy and happy."
We're more than happy to hear that she's doing well as she has two sons to take care. In May 2007, she announced that she had adopted a two-week old baby boy, named Wyatt Steven after her father and brother. She adopted another boy, named Levi James Crow, in 2010, according to media reports.
Plus, she's got a full plate of projects coming up — Crow is currently working on a follow-up to 2010's 100 Miles To Memphis, with a possible release date in October. She's also collaborating with director Berry Levinson on a stage musical of his 1982 film Diner.
