Country trio Pistol Annies debut second video Takin' Pills
Newly formed country trio Pistol Annies have come out with a brand new video for their fun-sounding single, "Takin' Pills" off their debut album Hell on Heels, released last year in August. In the clip, the three country stars Lonestar Annie (Miranda Lambert), Hippie Annie (Ashley Monroe) and Holler Annie (Angaleena Presley) do a fun take on the perils of having vices and being a musician. While the song may be upbeat, the lyrics mask the darkness of what the song actually is.
And it narrates what it is like to be touring musicians who are down on their luck. In the chorus, they sing, "We're living on truck stop burgers and fries/ Crossing our fingers for a vacancy sign/ Now who in the hell is gonna pay these bills/ When one's drinking, one's smoking, one's taking pills." While singing all these addictions, the girls are all smiles.
Fans will see them gleefully singing while rehearsing for a show in a bar. The video also shows the girls in an old VW van driving across a long road. "We left the driving to me since I was just smoking," said Angaleena about the video shoot.
The group are set to work on their second album later this fall. Meanwhile, fans can catch Pistol Annies on select dates of Lambert's On Fire tour throughout the summer. Watch below Pistol Annies' new video.
