The Prototypes tease us with Slip Away, the 14th song off City Of Gold
The song's not available on iTunes yet, as the whole album is set to drop this Sunday, the 17th of May. Couple of songs are available to preorder on iTunes, though, specifically 'Pop It Off', the one featuring Mad Hed City, 'Redose', 'Don't Let Me Go', 'Moscow', a bonus track, and of course, the eponymous song, 'City Of Gold'.
Still, you can listen to 'Slip Away', a really baffling, uplifting tune, though with a slight mellow imagery, on MrSuicideSheep's youtube channel. When I say baffling, I mean controversial. Few words, enigmatic idea:
"As we stand at the gates We don't want you to go away It's time for us to go our sepparate ways It's ok to leave us, don't be afraid"
Where is he/she leaving? Who is we? We can only presume that The City Of Gold is a sort of after world, and the departure to it either life or death. If the road to The City of Gold is a slick metaphor for life, then what is "this place" the voyager should leave, in the chorus?
"So slip away! Slip away, leave this place We'll see you someday"
"Slip away" is also our soothing siren heed, as this song fills our tormenting four days of wait with a drop of what bliss this album will really be.
