Have you guys heard of MNEK's 'Suddenly'? It's off Small Talk, an EP that MNEK's been preparing for a while now. The song is pure poetry, if you read it out loud: 'Can we afford to be a chord / Or are we just driftin' melodies?'. Come on, that had to touch your heart!

The song reminds us of artistic mannerism, as he covered the emotional spark that triggered the creation of the song in sever veils. On his Fader account, he tells us that he was rejected at a party and then immediately went on and composed this song. Here are his words: "They led me on to think it was the start of something but then I got friend zoned cause it's a crazy time in their career right now. It left me a bit dark inside for a minute, and it led me to write this song". We cannot begin to assume who 'they' are and what career he's talking about, but if a song as beautiful as this arises after each of life's setbacks, then let the disappointment begin! Let it be sudden, as your appreciation for this James Fauntleroy-ish, less funky, mellow Charlie Brown song will be.
