Mathien

Mathien - Devils in the Chi lyrics

rate me

A little in the big city, I keep my head down to the ground yeah

Just keep moving in the right direction, whoa

Don't wanna walk shit, the whole words just watch me now

They know my destination, whoa

And the Chi men mugging, just staring at my shoes

Staring at the feet, that don't wanna see

The darkness in their eyes

It got a whole lot of something I don't want no part of

A bunch of devils in the Chi

If my mother see me now, she'd be terrified for me yeah

It's not the way it should be, no

If I had a dime for every time I got myself in the same situation

I'd still be a long way from home

I'd still be a long way from home, yeah, oh

I said I'd still be a long way from home, home, home, yeah, oh

[Guitar solo]

And if a man pulls a pistol, nothin to do about me

I don't wanna wait to find out, if he's got bullets in the gun

I gotta show a lot of ... don't call me...

And living ... I'm a long way from home

I'd still be a long way from home, yeah, oh

I said I'd still be a long way from home, home, home, yeah, oh

I'd still be a long way from home,

I said I'd still be a long way from home, yeah, whoa

[Guitar solo]

... you could be there, you are ... when I ... you

I'm fin...I want ya

Change of constitution, whole that...

This is a ... uh let it ... illusion.

On the new single "Devils in the Chi", singer Mathien evokes that feeling of creeping disquiet that takes hold when you realize you’re the only one on the train not crazy or severely intoxicated. The song is big, loud, and takes on a spiritual vibe as Mathien questions where he’s at, and some of the things he has done.
