Intro Spoken - Lou Christie:
This was called a 'dirty song' back in 1966, believe it or not.
This is my follow up record to 'Lightnin' Strikes'.
And-a they made me go in and change the lyrics.
We, we released the record the first week and it was banned
across America because they said it was 'a little too suggestive'.
And-a just about everyone started banning and once something
people up around Boston and Chicago and that banned it.
It just had the, the dirty lyrics were getting too much for everyone.
Even Tme Magazine, even wrote an article on it said that, 'Lou Christie
was corrupting the youth of the day'.
<audience applause>
This thing sounds like a nursery rhyme, today!
Any how-a, we're gonna do this thing. They made me go in
and change the lyrics and 'clean them up'. So, I went in and
cleaned them up but tonight of course we're gonna do the original
'dirty version' for you people! And you're all cool enough I'm mean
you've all lived in New York here.
But this thing, it's like a-really, I mean, sss-my.
I just want to show you how far we've slid since then.
<audience laughter>
Song Begins:
1, 2, 3, Go
Baby, the raindrops play for me
A lonely rhapsody
'Cause on our first date
We were makin' out in the rain
And in this car
Our love went much too far
It was exciting as thunder
Tonight I wonder where you are?
The windshield wipers seemed to say
('Together-together, together-together')
('Together-together' together-together')
And now they are saying
I'll never (can't you see) never (tell her) (that I love her?)
Ooo, the rain (and don't)
Ooo-wee, baby (stop the raindrops)
Rhapsody in the rain
Rhapsody in the rain
Angels keep cryin' for me (don't, stop)
Angels keep cryin' for me (don't, stop)
Rhapsody in the rain
Rhapsody in the rain
Rhapsody.
