Lady GaGa

Classic song Nature Boy sung by Lady GaGa: better than the original!

Classic song Nature Boy sung by Lady GaGa: better than the original!A renewal of a classic done by a modern artist. This trend has filled opera houses, theathers and concert halls all around. We remember all the modern day theather stagings of Sophocles’ ’Antigone’: Anouilh, Bertolt Brecht, Maria Zambrano, and so on. The rush and gush made book pages flutter too, as people were always interested in what a modern mind has to say about the myth of Sisyphus let’s say (I’m referring to Albert Camus), or about Flaubert (when Julian Barnes wrote ’Flaubert’s Parrot’), Shakespeare (Faulkner’s ’The Sound and The Fury’). Re-takes on classics are always interested the public, and while some intellectuals may think reinstating the classic a clichée (see Jorge Luis Borges in ’Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote’), others can’t wait to see Karl Roßmann walk the modern streets of New York, or Nick Carraway listen to the music of a contemporary New York man (we’ve seen that in Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby).

Here is Lady GaGa singing ’Nature Boy’ with Tony Bennett. I see in the song’s instrumental a melancholical movement. She’s done to the instrumental what Frank Sinatra had done to the same Nat King Cole’s ’Autumn Leaves’ in 57. You’ll have to listen to all four tracks and make a comparisson, if you want to prove me wrong.

Great classic coming out of a modern day singer. Let’s hear it out!
