Korni

Korni Grupa was an ex-Yugoslavian progressive rock band and it was formed in Belgrade, Serbia, in the summer of 1968. However, they were first known for writing number of radio friendly pop hit singles, before they started creating lengthy and complex progressive rock compositions, combining many different influences, such as jazz, rock, classic and elements of folk music from different ex Yugoslavian countries. Founding members were: keyboardist Kornelije Kovač, bassist Bojan Hreljac, guitarist Velibor Borko Kacl and drummer Velimir Furduj. At first, female singer Seka Kojadinović sang in the band, but soon was replaced by Dušan Prelević, who also stayed in the group only few months before Dalibor Brun took his place. In 1969 Dado Topić became the new singer and recommended the new guitarist, Josip Boček. In 1971 Dado Topić left and founded his own band called Time. Korni Grupa found the replacement in Zdravko Čolić, who recorded only one single with the band and left. Later he became one of the most popular pop singers of all time in ex Yugoslavia. The sixth and final singer was Zlatko Pejaković, with whom Korni Grupa achieved its greatest popularity. In 1972 they released their first LP, called simply “**Korni** Grupa”. In 1973, under the name “The Cornelyans”, members of **Korni** Grupa recorded an album “Not an Ordinary Life”, with lyrics in English. But next year Kornelije Kovač, the leader of the group, decided to disband **Korni** Grupa. The official date of bands split-up is 1st december of 1974.
