In his early days Kinito Méndez was key member of The Association Cocoband merengue and talent contributes to the creation of a new concept of merengue. Many of the compositions of Kinito Merengues became classics like "El Cacu", "El Coronel", "El Boche" and "La Manito" which is distinguished by its use in the movie "Kindergarten Cop" with Arnold Schwarzanegger.
In 1991, Kinito decided to create a new project called Rokabanda. With this grouping Kinito flourished, Developing a personal style listed as "Merengue Refranero." Rokabanda was honored with most sacred of the Dominican National Art Chronicle (ACROARTE), Al Get Premios Casandra As revelations of the Year 1992, and Popular Orchestra of the Year 1993."Ají Titi", "El Vacano", "Rechenchen" and "Los Hombres Maduros" just some of the many successes came from the hand of Kinito Méndez In Rokabanda.
