Inside the house

A girl named Clara woke up from her bedroom

She went downstairs

And there she found her parents and her brother

One of the members of her family

Baked cookies and another started the loom

As the whole family started decorating the Christmas tree

The guests arrived into the house so jolly as could be

They had fun, talking, dancing

Telling stories to each other

I know their kids were playing

Games that nobody expected

Then a man named Drosselmeyer

Came with a bag of gifts I’ve seen

One by one, he gave each kid a toy that they had connected

They’ll learn what I mean

As more gifts had been brought in the living room, a man-figured nutcracker came out of nowhere.

Clara found it where she was and she was so happy for her only gift. Some other people were amazed that she was dancing with the nutcracker.

She kept on going until......

Her brother ran and damaged it and this made her cry.

Luckily, Mr. Drosselmeyer fixed it for her to make her feel better. I think her brother would be punished for what he had done.

So all the grownups danced a traditional passing reel

With curtseys and bows done at the same time

And when the Christmas party was over in that moment

The guests all left the house with their goodbyes as old as rhyme

And so, as Clara and her family went to bed before midnight, she came downstairs to find the nutcracker again.

She set it on the floor and the big hand of the clock reached 12

Ringing the bell in a dozen times.

Then suddenly, the Mouse King and his minions came out of the mousehole

And magic brought the nutcracker to life.

My, oh, my, what was happening?

Maybe the mice and the toys grew into a human size

Or Clara grew to the size of mice and toys

Obviously similar effects could make all of us realize

That you and I could hear a squeaky noise

The toy soldiers and the mice fought each other in the rough way

Until Clara had an idea to subdue the Mouse King

I think she trapped him with a mouse trap, took off her slipper and threw it at him

As the magic glowed upon the slipper giving it a fling

And down he went!

Evil was no more and as she and the nutcracker went into the candy world,

He turned into a handsome prince and they danced together with love.

After all this, they watched the locals dance their traditional cultural dances.

When all was over,

Clara took his true love home

And then she woke up

She found that the nutcracker was no longer a toy

He was now a human prince for the rest of his life

And that brought all of the joy

Saving her from devastation

And all the despairing strife
