Jennifer Lopez will return as to American Idol, season 13, confirmed the show American Idol on Tuesday.
The Puerto Rican entertainer, who was judge in 2011 and 2012, will join Keith Urban and Haryy Connick Jr, who replaces Randy Jackson.
Casper Smart told the big secret last month, when he was interviewed by E! News.
The veteran Randy will return to Idol as an in-house mentor, announced Fox.
“Surprise, surprise!” said Jackson in a statement. “I am so happy to be back as part of this amazing show that started it all. “Season 13 is the place to be. The original talent show is back with a vengeance and ready to discover the best talent in America.”
"And I am honoured that they've asked me to be a judge this season. As an entertainer, I am truly excited to bring my perspective to American Idol, and to help emerging performers find their way.'
Fox Entertainment Chairman Kevin Reilly added that the judges brought "impressive talent" to the show. Jennifer Lopez was really loved by the audiences and it is rumored to have collected $17.5 million paycheck as part of her deal to return to “American Idol.”
Keith Urban is considered a positive force for the show. 'I think this season of Idol is gonna be a blast,' said the country music singer. 'New team, new energy, and a whole new field of artists to be discovered and given a chance!' The new season of American Idol will premiere in the US on January 15 2014.
