Watch Jason Mraz's touching clip for latest single 'I Won't Give Up'
The Grammy winning artist Jason Mraz has premiered the music video in support of his latest single "I Won't Give Up" which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Digital Songs chart, in its first week after release. Revealed on January 2nd in a form of a lyric video, the song enjoys now some emotional visuals which feature touching scenes of a former Marine who dances with his girl despite a missing leg.
The Mark Pellington-directed clip for Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" is oddly reminiscent of Best Picture nominee "The Tree of Life," with its lingering shots of wholesome Americana, sun-stroked imagery, non-linear structure and contrast between out-of-focus landscape shots and striking close-ups. Of course, Malick's Best Picture nominee didn't have Mraz crooning a love ballad in the desert. Actually, Mraz's music video echoes the vibe of Bruce Springsteen's "We Take Care Of Our Own" clip, with its gritty portraits of beleaguered U.S. citizens of every race and creed. Mraz, with his shaggy curls plays the guitar sitting on the stairs. He begins and ends the clip the same way by walking through some orange smoke.
Video premiere: Jason Mraz "I Won't Give Up"
"I Won't Give Up" stormed the Hot 100 with a No. 8 debut upon its release last month, following the chart success of Mraz singles like "I'm Yours" and "The Remedy." Earlier this week, the singer-songwriter's fourth full-length received a title and release date: Love Is a Four Letter Word will hit stores on April 17.
Fans will get a chance to watch Mraz perform the song via live stream of a special acoustic performance from the BING Bar in Park City, Utah on January 20 at 13:00 Mountain time, sponsored by ASUS and Intel.
