U2 Makes Oscar Nomination
The nominations for the Academy Awards were presented Thursday morning, and U2 is among the favorites to receive the coveted prize for “Best Original Song.”
The track that might bring the Irish boys an Oscar is titled “Ordinary Love,” and it is the official soundtrack of the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Bono and his other three colleagues are up against “Alone But Not Alone” from the film of the same name (songwriters Bruce Broughton and Dennis Spiegel), “Happy” from Despicable Me 2 (Pharrell Williams), “Let It Go” from Frozen (Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) and “The Moon Song” from Her (Karen O and Spike Jonze).
U2 is also nominated for Best Documentary Feature with 20 Feet From Stardom, a film which highlights the careers of background singers Darlene Love, Mary Clayton, Judith Hill, Lisa Fischer, Tata Vega and Jo Lawry.
We wish U2 the best of luck on the 2nd of March, when the 86th Academy Awards ceremony will take place.
