Smokey Robinson announces new album
Motown icon and Grammy award-winning songwriter, Smokey Robinson, has joined up with American Idol presenter and record producer Randy Jackson to produce a first-of-its-kind duets LP, for UK release in February 2013.
The album which will feature Robinson alongside a celebrated roster of contemporary and classic artists - the first of which to be revealed are Jessie J and John Legend - who will sing the best loved songs from Robinson's unmatched catalogue of hits.
"Randy Jackson is a long-time friend, a great musician and an amazing, experienced record producer. I'm honoured and very happy to be working with him. He's my brother," said Smokey Robinson.
Jackson stated, "It's my utmost pleasure to produce this amazing duets record with the legend, Smokey Robinson. He is one of the most incredible songwriters of all time. It's going to be hot!"
The album will include hit songs Robinson has written for his solo recordings, for his group, The Miracles, as well as hits he wrote for others, including Marvin Gaye and The Temptations. The album will be his first release via his new deal with Verve Records. Robinson was signed to the label earlier this year by its Chairman, David Foster. This announcement follows Smokey Robinson's headline show in London's Hyde Park as part of BBC Radio 2's Proms In The Park at the weekend (8th Sep).
