Sally Seltmann Releases “Needle in the Hay”
This new song from the Australian singer and songwriter is part of her latest album that will be ready sometime this year. The official single from this LP is said to be ready in November.
Sally was first known by her stage name, New Buffalo, and then, in 2010, she enchanted the fans with “Heart That’s Pounding”, under her own name. Since then she’s been working with Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby on the “Seeker Lover Keeper” project.
“Needle in the Hay” is a beautiful track produced by Sally’s husband, Darren Seltmann, with Bree van Reyk (Paul Kelly) on drums and percussion, and Michel Rose on pedal steel.
The video for this track is called “The Sugar Fountain” and it was created by Sally Seltmann’s friend, artist Isobel Knowles. Initially, this animated journey was part of a project for Melbourne’s Schoolhouse Studios in 2012.
Isobel says that, “It was a series of edible art desserts, collaborations between artists and chefs”, and about the song, “Needle In The Hay has so many cascading, euphoric passages that lend themselves to this fantasy fountain. I like to describe it as psychodelcious!”
Sally Seltmann gave us a taste of her new album saying that, “I wanted you to hear this song first because it marks the beginning of a new journey. It’s about losing yourself, following your heart, and above all – LOVE!” Listen below:
