Miley’s SNL Performance Not a Huge Success
Miley Cyrus' Saturday Night Live performance won mixed reviews from critics.
The 20-year-old former Hannah Montana Disney star was the host and musical guest on the US comedy sketch show this weekend. According to Deadline, the show wasn’t a huge success.
Compared to SNL’s previous episode, in which actress Tina Fey performed, this week’s show was down 4 per cent, Miley's show clocking in a 4.5 rating in metered-market households. It also scored a 2.7 in adults 18-49 in the Local People Meters, matching last week's season premiere in that market.
According to some of Miley’s supporters, this decrease in the number of viewers was attributed to the fact that the show was delayed 27 minutes on America's East Coast due to a football game.
Apparently Miley raised a few eyebrows with her return to the popular programme which included the star "twerking" during an oversexed spoof of US Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. The singer also commented upon her controversial performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
“I don't apologize for my VMA performance. If I owe anyone apology, it's the people who make the bottom half of shirts,” she confessed.
Miley Cyrus performed her latest single, “Wrecking Ball”, and an acoustic version of her dance hit “We Can't Stop” in between skits.
The diva’s new album, Bangerz, is scheduled for release on Tuesday.
