Australian rock group INXS quits after 35 years
The iconic Australian rockers are retiring after a long career of 35 years. The announcement was made in an official statement released on November 12 where they confirm the break up. They also thanked the fans and honored their lead singer Michael Hutchence who died in 1997.
The rock band INXS sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, and their success was fueled by the charismatic performances of legendary frontman Michael Hutchence.
"We understand that this must come as a blow to everybody, but all things must eventually come to an end," INXS members Tim, Andrew and Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Beers said. "We have been performing as a band for 35 years, it's time to step away from the touring arena."
INXS hit singles include rock classics as "Devil Inside", "Never Tear Us Apart", "Suicide Blonde", "New Sensation" and "Need You Tonight."
"Our music will of course live on and we will always be a part of that," the group added.
The band has performed with several frontmen since the death of Hutchence in 1997, including the Canadian J.D. Fortune, Jon Stevens and Terence Trent D'Arby.
The break up of the Australian band is a shock for its fans since INXS announced on a concert at Perth Arena that it was their last ever performance.
