Organisers of the event at Bramham Park, near Wetherby, have hailed Foo Fighters as the "undisputed biggest rock band in the world today" as they announced the return of the group who were created by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl. The band will play on the main stage in Leeds on Friday and in Reading on Sunday night. They first appeared at Reading in 1995 and have played the main stage at both Leeds and Reading in 2002 and 2005. On Saturday night indie legends The Cure will take the top billing playing as the iconic alternative rock band play at the festivals for the first time since they appeared in 1979 in Reading following the release of their debut album.
The final night of the festival in Leeds will see one of the major British rock bands take center stage as Kasabian make their first headline appearance at the Leeds festival. Organisers said: "In their own words, Kasabian were built to headline festivals. Since the release of their debut self-titled album in 2004, the Leicester group have swept all before them."
The event will also include performances from the Kasier Chiefs who are returning to play at Leeds after a two year absence following the launch of their fifth album The Future is Medieval. The band from Yorkshire will appear on the main stage on Friday. Special guests on the main stage also include Florence and the Machine, Paramore and the Black Keys.
