UN's World Humanitarian Day celebrated by Beyonce in a new clip
To celebrate World Humanitarian Day, Beyonce Knowles debuts the "I Was Here" music video which she recorded in front of a live audience in the UN's General Assembly Hall earlier this month, with the aim of reaching one billion people globally with her message.
"We all see the headlines and we think, 'What can I really do to help?'" she said of the campaign.
"World Humanitarian Day is an opportunity for all of us to work together to make a difference. This is our time to leave our mark on the world and show that we were here and we care."
Wearing a white long dress with her hair neatly pulled back, she stood tall on stage of the UN General Assembly delivering a powerful performance in front of live audience.
Footage of the globe with outer-space backdrop appeared on a huge screen behind the Queen Bey as she belted out the inspiring lyrics. The constellation burst into lights and then showed humanitarian works across the globe "to inspire people all over the world to do something good, no matter how big or small, for someone else." Images of aid workers helping those in need were also projected on to the stage as she performed.
