Fifth AT THE GATES album, after a long wait of 19 years
I can't even begin to fathom the waves this album will make in the metal world. Of course, we've seen At The Gates in concerts, but not since 2008. And we haven't had an album since Slaughter Of The Soul, in 1995! This new album, At War With Reality, has been recorded under a new label company's protectorate.
At War With Reality leaked yesterday, although it was supposed to hit on the 28th of October. The album is supposed to be written in terms of the literary genre called 'magic realism', the one that emerged in South-America and animated writers like Miguel Ángel Asturias, Bioy Casares, Alejo Carpentier, Gogol, in some short-stories, and out of the contemporary writers, the late Garcia Marquez, Jose Saramago, Salman Rushdie, Nobel laureate Kenzaburō Ōe, and so on.
The album surely has that rigorousness, reticence, post-modern hybridity, that relativism that Gianni Vattimo dubbed 'pensiero debole', and so on.
I haven't listened to At The Gates since the 2000, when I bumped one of their cassettes in a pick-up truch with a friend of mine, so help us out with the lyrics, because we know they need correcting. Enjoy!
