Gossip announced new LP and revealed first single 'Perfect World'

Gossip announced new LP and revealed first single 'Perfect World'Feminist dance-punk trio Gossip, fronted by the fearless and stylish chanteuse Beth Ditto have recently debuted a brand new single off the upcoming LP Joyful Noise. Titled "Perfect World" the track has been produced in collaboration with pop-soul producer Mark Ronson, but also with Brian Higgins and we totally love it! It might just make our day more perfect, and maybe the world too!

Gossip's first single with these crackerjack collaborators doesn't disappoint, with a synthetic and heavy pop sensibility. "Perfect World" has some signature Gossip aggression, with Beth Ditto's piercingly soaring gospel-inflected vocals pinned to Brace Paine's tensely strummed guitars. But the chorus melody is the real killer, as Beth dreams of a utopia she can't hold onto: "I been wishing/ Hoping you'd listen/ Be my accomplice," she breathes, before letting her enormously powerful voice explode. "In the picture perfect world/ We can be more than befo-o-o-ore/ Said it was/ I made it stronger," she sings, giving us a big angry-dance moment tempered by wistful sadness.

The new LP follow the release of their 2009 album Music for Men for which they've worked with legendary record executive Rick Rubin.

"A Joyful Noise" LP – out May 22th via Columbia – Here's the tracklist:

01 "Melody Emergency" 02 "Perfect World" 03 "Get A Job" 04 "Move In The Right Direction" 05 "Casualties Of War" 06 "Into The Wild" 07 "Get Lost" 08 "Involved" 09 "Horns" 10 "I Won't Play" 11 "Love In A Foreign Place"

About their work with Brian Higgins (Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, Girls Aloud), the trio sought to create their own brand of pop, as Ditto said, "I spent the whole year listening to ABBA and not listening to the radio." Shortly after the album release, Gossip hits a summer European tour. Meanwhile, this week they are heading to SXSW festival in Austin, Texas for a concert that will be live streamed Thursday, March 15th.
