Engorged have also managed to let loose several horrifying split releases over the years with the likes of Oakland's Impaled, Australians Fuck...I'm Dead, and Spain's Gruesome Stuff Relish. They formed in 1997 by Akkad (Vocals), Ryan (Guitars, [artist]Last Empire[/artist], [artist]Thy Infernal[/artist], [artist]Frightmare[/artist]), Noah (Guitars, [artist]Frightmare[/artist]), Lucas (Bass, [artist]Menacer[/artist] (US), [artist]Fall of the Bastards[/artist]) and Shad (Drums, [artist]Coma Void[/artist], [artist]Whore[/artist] (US), Frightmare, [artist]Blood Freak[/artist]). The band unqiuely blends horror themes, death metal and grindcore in a blend of catchy deathgrind. The vocals are rough and growly with backing vocals of high scream rather like [artist]Napalm Death[/artist] or [artist]Impaled[/artist], the guitars are distorted and downtuned for the full effect of the blasting and catchy drums.     • They released their [i]"Death Metal Attack"[/i] demo in 1997 as a cassette and toured around for most of that year. They were praticing new songs and were approached by [url=http://www.razorbackrecords.com/]Razorback Records[/url] of which they signed to by the end of 1998. Later, the band recorded and released their debut album [i]"Death Metal Attack 2"[/i] in 1999 which had elven new songs with the re-recorded demo songs as bonus material. The band got great reviews from their unique spin on deathgrind and the band truly entered the realm of the underground with a core fanbase to follow their footsteps.
