Colin James launched a new blues rock album today: Hearts On FireCollin James really touches the blues chord with this album. There's no swamp banjo, no love songs with a cello in the back, just that ole' raw 'I long for her' theme. One song off this album really touched the spot. I'm talkin' bout that 'You Were Never Mine'! The song was also interpreted by Janiva Magness a couple of years ago, and by Delbert McClinton. Both interpretations were great, but I just can't feel them reaching the peak of sadness, like Colin James' song does.

The title says it all. Idealism driven to a point where all bridges that connect to the real world are lost. You cannot lose your loved one if you never had her. She's always safe in your mind, like the icon of a saint, you can always cherish it, but you can't really be in the presence of your desires. Doesn't this remind you of a Elderly Brothers song? I'm sure it does. I'll leave you guys 'dreaming your life away'. It's one way of dealing with the hurt...

Here's an old one from Colin James. 'Just Came Back'.
