Cee Lo Denies Drug Allegations
Superstar musician, Cee Lo Green, pleads not guilty to felony charge for giving a woman ecstasy.
The 39-year-old artist was accused of slipping ecstasy into a woman's drink during a 2012 dinner in Los Angeles, thus being charged with felony ecstasy possession. Cee Lo was also accused of sexually assaulting the woman, but due to insufficient evidence, the Los Angeles Country District Attorney's office dropped the charge.
According to TMZ reports, the rapper pled 'not guilty' to furnishing the woman with the drug before having sex with her. The Voice judge paid a $30,000 bond, and was accompanied in court by his lawyer, Blair Berk. The TMZ website also reported that the musician is “expected to turn himself in to authorities for booking within 24 hours”.
“We are pleased that the Los Angeles County District Attorney has completed its investigation and concluded that the evidence did not support the false and unfounded claims made over a year ago,” the defense lawyer declared. "As it relates to the one charge of furnishing or sharing ecstasy, Mr. Green will responsibly address that matter in a court of law."
As this is his first offence, Cee Lo Green is likely to face probation.
