Bob Wayne - Sam Tucker lyrics

rate me

This one here is a little story about a fellow by the name Sam Tucker.

It´s a damn gold miner ever lived in the fine state of alabama

but he never did cash in before he died

in fact Some people say old sams gold is still hiding up there in them hills

legand says when Sam first struck gold you can hear him singing miles around:

thers gold gold gold in the mud

and the mud is in the creek

and the creek run dry

gonna dig dig dig in the dirt

gonna dig in the dirt till the brown dirt shines

gonna run run run like a river

gonna run like a river down the mountain side

gonna trade these beans for a slab o meat

a pretty little girl and a jar of shine

Sam Tucker was an only mother fucker

from way up in the hills of alabama

story goes he turned mud into gold

until his beard grew long, grey, and white

but old Sam never lived in no mansion

no he stayed up in them hills till the day he died

and no one knowes where his fortune lays stowed

but to find it, damn right i´m gonna try!

and white any luck one day your gonna here me

running down that hillside just to singing...

thers gold gold gold in the mud

and the mud is in the greek

and the greek run dry

gonna dig dig dig in the dirt

gonna dig in the dirt till the brown dirt shines

gonna run run run like a river

gonna run like a river down the mountain side

gonna trade these beans for a slab o meat

a pretty little girl and a jar of shine

so I set up a life long journey

to find old sams pile of gold

but alabama´s pretty big so I asked the town

for any clue about the legend they may know

story goes, down there by the creek

is where old sams tucker staked his claim

legend says on the fort night of a full moon

you can still hear old Sam sing...

So I set up a camp down there by the creek

and this is about time that the moon broke free

I swear I heard old Sams voices echo into the hill side

and if I´m not misstaken I thing I heard a jaw-harp and a fiddle in there too

so I followed the voice that I heard

through the thickest of the briers and pines

I saw the shadow of an old grey man

sneaking out of the mouth of his gold mine

I wasn´t scared till he saw me standing there

he said boy you´ll never take this gold alive

for I´m Sam Tucker and I´m an evil mother fucker

amd I have been since the day that I died

than he said, he said, he said...

you better run run run like a river

better run like a river down the mountain side

try to take my gold and your blood gonna flow

gonna flow down the creek till the creek runs dry

gonna dig dig dig you a grave gonna dig you a grave bury you alive

gonna trade your teeth for a slab of meat a pretty little girl and a jar of shin.
