Backstreet Boys spend the holidays on family

Backstreet Boys spend the holidays on familyThe Backstreet Boys, formed of A.J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell, performed at the evening's “Christmas in Washington” holiday special on Sunday.

The singers opened the show with a medley of their holiday songs. They declared while rehearsing for the show that they want to focus on their loved ones on Christmas holidays.

"We're all with our families [during the holidays]. That's our holiday gift to each other: peace of mind and separation for a second because we're always together," A.J. told USA Today.

"This will be my daughter's second Christmas... now she's all about opening up presents, so that's really cool," he gushed of his own plans.

Nick will be celebrating with his fiancée Lauren Kitt. The couple engaged in February and she's already taught him some new holiday traditions.

"She's half Mexican, so we'll be eating tamales on Christmas. She introduced that to me, and then I introduced her to Charlie Brown Christmas, which I love watching."

Howie said he plans to attend midnight mass with his family.

"Then we come back and my mom makes a bunch of Spanish traditional foods... then the adults actually open gifts the night before, and then we get things ready at my mom's house for the kids the next morning," he shared.

“Christmas in Washington” was hosted by Hugh Jackman and at the show also performed Sheryl Crow, Anna Kendrick, Janelle Monáe and Train's Pat Monahan.

The holiday special is scheduled to air on US TV network TNT on Friday.
