Azealia Banks returns from Twitter hiatus, posts new single Aquababe online
The fiery Harlem-female rapper Azealia Banks steps away from her Twitter hiatus by releasing another song online. Titled "Aqaubabe", the track is included on her forthcoming mixtape Fantasea.
It's actually sampling James Brown's recognisable line "We're gonna do a song… that you've never heard before", as producer Machinedrum stays true to the singer's words and proceeds to jam your speakers with an array of erratic drum loops, basslines and filters. The line "Let's celebrate that 'Aquababe' sashay / boulevard / runway," owes its rhyme scheme to "Jumanji" refrain "Rude bitch all day / uptown / Broadway."
Banks' online post with the song was accompanied by this message: PRIVATE BEACH MA-LI-BU N***A, WEAVE UP IN THE SHADE! Listen to the song below.

After Banks performed a pair of shows in the NYC area last weekend, including a late-night headlining set at Manhattan's Bowery Ballroom, the Interscope/Polydor rapper confirmed a split with manager Troy Carter, and later signed off Twitter for good. "I will definitely be working BY MYSELF and saving MY 20% On management commissions while I avoid you sharks in the water," Banks wrote. Banks will also be back with a proper album, Broke With Expensive Taste, this fall.
Banks recently insisted that she no longer wants to be seen as a rapper. Posting on her Tumblr site, the "212" star claimed that she wanted to be perceived as a "vocalist" instead – and also revealed she was deleting her Twitter account, as it made her "too accessible". She has, however, reinstated her account on the social networking site and on top of that, released some new music too.
