The Kroegers and the Lavignes Have Finally Met
Avril Lavigne and her husband's family met at their wedding for the first time.
The “Complicated” singer married Chad Kroeger, the Nickelback frontman, last month, in the south of France. Since Avril's relatives had never met any of Chad's before the ceremony, the two took advantage of the event to introduce them to one another.
"The best part about the wedding for me was having all of our family together," she told ET Online.
"Our families got to meet for the first time and that was definitely the best part."
The couple wanted to recreate a gothic atmosphere during the ceremony. As a result, the Canadian singer wore a black Monique Lhuillier dress and a dark make-up as she walked down the aisle, and she carried a bouquet of black roses.
"I wanted it to be over the top. I'm obsessed with castles and I love French decor and Goth. I found this castle and it was perfect," Avril gushed to Hello! magazine.
Chad and Avril started dating on the 1st of July, 2012, and married exactly a year later, on Canada Day. This is not Avril’s first marriage. She has been married once before, to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley.
