Indie rock band Arcade Fire confirm new album due 2013
It's official! The Canadian indie-rock band Arcade Fire will release their new album next year, according reports. The band will put out their next record in 2013, as the band shared on their Twitter's newsfeed Arcade Fire Tube: "BREAKING! New Arcade Fire album coming next year, Mercury Records has confirmed."
The LP follows 2010's The Suburbs, which topped the charts in six countries, including the UK and US. Earlier this year (March 2), the Canadian band posted a new track online titled "Abraham's Daughter", which is part of the Hunger Games movie soundtrack.
At the same time, Mercury Records also confirmed new albums from Metallica, U2 and Noah and the Whale, which will all contribute towards a good year for the record label.
UK label president Jason Iley said: "2013 could be one of the best years Mercury's ever had."
The new album, whenever it does come out, will be Arcade Fire's fourth studio effort. They released their debut, Funeral, in 2004, followed by Neon Bible in 2007. The aforementioned Suburbs hit the market in 2010 and earned the group multiple awards. It picked up Album of the Year honors at the Grammys, the Juno Awards and the BRIT Awards, and also won Canada's Polaris Music Prize.
