Arcade Fire debuted new song off The Hunger Games Soundtrack 'Abraham's Daughter'
Joining the big list of artists which include Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars, The Decemberists, Kid Cudi, Neko Case, Glen Hansard, The Low Anthem, The Secret Sisters and many more that feature on the official soundtrack for the upcoming sci-fi movie "The Hunger Games", Arcade Fire have recently unveiled another song on the album. Called "Abraham's Daughter", the track was unleashed online via Jimdo Indie Rock Music. Speaking to EW.com about the song, Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler gave few details about his inspiration for the song, saying,<I> "I tried to put myself in the headspace of how excited I’d be if this film was coming out when I was 15. I still remember hearing Radiohead's "Exit Music (for a Film)" in [Baz Luhrmann's] Romeo + Juliet when I was that age." Butler continued: "Our whole approach was to get into the world and try to create something that serves the story and the film. There's something in the story of Abraham and Isaac that I think resonates with the themes in the film, like sacrificing children. So we made a weird, alternate-universe version of that, where it's as if Abraham had a daughter -- kind of a metaphor for Katniss [the lead actress]."
Along with "Abraham's Daughter," Arcade Fire have provided an orchestral piece, titled "Horn of Plenty," which will be featured in the film itself and which will most certainly not be "a pop song or anything," as Butler warns. The soundtrack for The Hunger Games is set to be released on March 20th, prior to the film's March 23rd release. Check out below Arcade Fire's new song.
