Wings of a Dove

The clouds poured down water The skies resounded with thunder Your arrows flashed back and forth I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings on my bed I remember you I think of you through the watches of the night And I said "Oh that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest I would flee far away and stay in the desert I would hurry to my place of shelter far from the tempest and storm You are from all eternity Day and night they prowl on its walls threats and lies never leave its streets They spew out swords from their lips Like a slug melting away as it moves along But your commands make me wise You crown the year with your bounty As far as the east is from the west the hills are clothed with gladness And I said "Oh that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest I would flee far away and stay in the desert I would hurry to my place of shelter far from the tempest and storm You are from all eternity Let this be written for a future generation Let this be written for a future generation And I said "Oh that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest I would flee far away and stay in the desert I would hurry to my place of shelter far from the tempest and storm You are my soul You are my everything You are from all eternity
