Andrew Bird - Give It Away lyrics

rate me

Did you give it away? Did you give it away for free

Don't you give it away, just try to keep it in our family

I know you know desolation, coming home with your pockets full of sand

I know it's no vacation, whoa, now you found your tiny patch of land

In the nation under your command

Did you give it away? Yeah give it away

Did you give it away? For free, why would you have us pay?

I didn't know that your love was a commodity

What about appreciation, that depends on your depth and density...

What about inflation?

whoa, charts and graphs don't mean a thing to me

In the nation with its worthless currency

Don't you give it away, give it away

Don't you give it away, give it away

Would you hide in the hay, would you hide in the hay with me?

If you hide in the hay, well it's dark and you can scarcely breathe or see

should asphyxiation, where the foxes and field mice make the dans/dens/dance

death by association

I swore I'll never take anyone there again

To this nation, a nation under your command

This nation, a nation under your command

Nation under your command.

Singer Andrew Bird prepares the follow-up to 2009’s "Noble Beast" as a couple previews of new studio tunes have hit live venues of late. The song “Give It Away,” is one of these fresh previews and was performed recently in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park.
