The RnB singer Alicia Keys shared her new single "New Day" on June 28th via Twitter: @aliciakeys "Here's that first taste of what I was talking about... It's a #AKNewDay !!! Let's fly!". The track is the follow-up to Keys' 2009 disc The Element of Freedom which has been hotly anticipated for months.
"Tell me what a new day is to u!! For me it is the choice to create the life u DREAM about & letting NOTHING and NO ONE stop you!!!" later wrote in another tweet.
As the song's beat springs back and forth and piano flourishes add a bit of seriousness, Keys sings about touching the sky and not letting chances go to waste. If "New Day" is indeed the lead single to Keys' fifth studio album, the track is her most upbeat lead single yet. Even with a "new" sound, this is still the inspiring and uplifting Alicia we've always known and loved.
