Adele, Taylor Swift and LMFAO among 2012 Billboard Music Awards' winners list
The British singer Adele who were not given any award during 2012 Billboard Music Awards live telecast, was actually the big winner of the night picking up a total of 12 gongs, including the most coveted Top Artist. Last night ceremony, Sunday May 20 revealed its winners list soon after the curtain at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas fall down.
Adele won seven other prizes in the artist awards category. She sealed her domination by taking home two gongs in album awards and song awards categories each, thanks to her ground-breaking album "21" and her hit single "Rolling in the Deep" respectively. In the top category, Adele beat names such as Lady GaGa, Lil Wayne, Katy Perry and Rihanna. Despite of getting the most prizes, the British pop sensation was a no-show at the event. Party-meisters of LMFAO (Redfoo and SkyBlu) also took home some major booty — six trophies, to be precise, with their smash single "Party Rock Anthem" nabbing the award in three separate musical genre categories (Top Pop, Rap and Dance Song).
Another artist who skipped the show was Lil Wayne. Weezy won Top Male Artist, pushing aside the likes of Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Drake and Bruno Mars. Due to his absence, the award was accepted by presenter Gladys Knight on his behalf. In addition to the Top Male Artist, the rap mogul received two other gongs for Top Rap Artist and Top Rap Album ("Tha Carter IV"). Kelly Rowland's single "Motivation", which features him, additionally won Top R&B Song. At the same time, country cutie Taylor Swift was honored Woman of the Year. Taylor recently has donated $4 million to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville to fund what will now be known as the Taylor Swift Education Center, an exhibit and classroom space scheduled to open in 2014.
Additionally, Billboard handed Spotlight Award to Katy Perry, Woman of the Year to Taylor Swift, Millennium Award to Whitney Houston, and Billboard Music Icon Award to Stevie Wonder. Whitney, Stevie, Donna Summer and Adam Yauch were honored in special segments, while Robin Gibb was remembered in a moment of silence.
