Star of ash is the solo project of Heidi Solberg Tveitan aka Ihriel. It has been renamed as Starofash. She used to be in the experimental metal band Peccatum-now disbanded- along with her husband Vegard Tveitan aka Ihsanh, frontman of the legendary black metal outfit, Emperor.
After several releases with peccatum, Ihriel decided to open a new forum for her music. She released the debut album of Star of Ash "Iter. Viator" in 2002 under the label Jester Records. The title "Iter. Viator" stands in Latin for the journey, the traveller. This first attempt included help from Ihsahn and Ulver's Kris G. Rygg.
The music alludes to the likes of Arvo Part, Dead Can Dance etc,
The second is entitled "the thread" and was released in March 2008. On this release Heidi’s collaborators include the acclaimed German musician and composer Markus Reuter and the Japanese cyber-punk writer Kenji Siratori who provided the lyrics for the bonus track "Neo Drugismo".
